John Denver, a singer-songwriter from Colorado who was a specialist in folk-pop music has touched the hearts of millions. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in affection with Colorado and then settled in Aspen. Many people traveled to Colorado after hearing Denver's popular anthems to his adopted state. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame said the following: John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. And when you say that you are originally from Colorado people will respond with "Oh John Denver!" Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's first Top 10 Hit as a solo artist after having worked with small folk groups. The song was composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff was credited with Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the track, however Denver recognized that the song could be a huge hit after it was discovered that an earlier version. After performing the song on stage in Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer released the song a couple of days afterward.
